I was never
fast. Shit at running, shit at sports. But what I could do was work for long
periods. I would start slow and go all day.
My parents ran training courses. One of them they build a commercial hot house.
It took my father and 5 trainees all day to ram the poles for one side. They
were big and heavy, the circumference of a power pole and about 10 ft long.
They went
home at 4pm. My father and I got stuck in and did the other side together. It
was hard work just the 2 of us. But we had it done by 6:30pm.
I learned to walk distances, fast. At school if the class had to walk fairly
far and they were short on time the teacher would put me in front and told the
rest of the class to keep up.
I learned to work 10 hour days.
Then I got
sick, I had to slow down. But I never stopped. I kept pushing and pushing.
People knew
I was bad. I never told them how bad.
But the
more I pushed the sicker I got.
The more I
had to slow down.
Until my
body started to give out.
I mean
really give out. It’s failing and I had to stop working.
But, how? I
don’t know how to stop.
It’s
killing me.
But I can’t
stop.
