This one's for the dads raising a daughter on your own. Maybe even co-parenting.
Some things, you suck it up and figure out.
My daughter needed swimwear — a particular type. Out of my depth, I took her to the store anyway. We looked and couldn't find it. I asked the saleswoman, who rolled her eyes and said, "Where is her mother? She should be here doing this."
I loved looking right at her and saying: "Her mother is dead. I'm doing the best I can."
No regrets. Not for that. Not for taking her to buy a dress either.
But know when to step back.
If she has her period, things are difficult, and she has questions — don't try to solve it or answer it. Grab your phone and call any woman you know. Doesn't matter who. Every single one will turn into a member of the sisterhood. Hand the phone to your daughter and let them talk.
I'll buy period products. I don't give a shit. But those conversations are between women.
