“Make sure
you don’t push your trauma onto your daughter. “
Polli was
right. She was always right damn it. After many years of crap I hated Christmas,
it had become a shit day that I didn’t want to deal with, but I had no right to
push any of my problems onto our daughter. I had a think. Sometimes those
wheels in my brain need to turn over a few times. I knew she wasn’t liking the
day much either, it was overloading her and so I turned it into a time for her,
while making it a day I can cope with too. It works now. For both of us. My
daughter loves Christmas because I remain mindful not to push my trauma onto
her.
You know
what? I think I am enjoying it a little more too.
